Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Assess LV function, ejection fraction, and cardiac output
- Assess RV function and pulmonary hypertension
- Diagnose pericardial effusion and cardiac tamponade as a cause of obstructive shock
- Manage common critical care cardiac scenarios due to cyanotic or acyanotic congenital heart diseases
Course Description
The course will include two lectures followed by 2 hours of hands-on ultrasound scanning.
As a course pre-requisite, we recommend that participants with previous experience in basic cardiac point of care ultrasound register for this course. This course has limited seats available. Registration will be limited to PICU doctors on a first come first serve basis. Participants will be emailed important pre-course preparation material to review closer to the date. Coffee, snacks, and lunch will be included.
